George Wong graduated from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan with Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Computer Engineering. He lived in the US for over 25 years, where he received his college education and worked as a consultant in a leading oil & gas service company. He moved back to Hong Kong in 1990, and worked for DEC/Compaq/HP as Industrial Consultant, and later as Global Account Executive. George has long been interested in promoting the use of computer and robotics in schools. Recently he started his own education consulting company to develop computer-based curriculum materials for primary schools and kindergartens. A co-founder of Maplewood, George has considerable hands-on experience in US college admissions. He serves as a mentor for many years, advising high school students on college planning and application.
David Lai graduated from Yale University and obtained a BSc with distinction in Applied Math and a strong minor in Japanese Studies. Prior to Yale, David graduated from St. Paul’s Co-educational College in Hong Kong. A co-founder of Maplewood, David advises students seeking admission to US colleges and universities. He is very knowledgeable about the liberal arts colleges in the US and specializes on financial aid for international students. In addition to college counseling, he has extensive experience in college planning, tutoring and helping students to prepare for SAT and TOEFL. Besides education, David has been actively involved in venture capital and technology projects. He has worked with AIG American General, Peregrine Asset Management, Manulife Asset Management in the US and Hong Kong. He is active in the Yale Club, Yale-China Association and has helped in interviewing students seeking admission and the Yale Book Club Award.
Perry Yu graduated from St Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong and attended MIT and Princeton University for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Trained in chemical engineering, Perry has worked at major US corporations including General Electric, Hyperion Solutions and IBM. He has also started up a direct marketing business in San Francisco and an application software company in Hong Kong. Perry has long advocated the use of the Internet to facilitate life-long learning and communication. He founded the Internet Academy for Kids and was the General Manager at the Hong Kong Internet Exchange. Perry is active in local community services including the Rotary Club, the Hong Kong Mediation Council and other non-profit organizations. Perry is active in his high school mentoring program and interviewing college applicants for his US alma maters. A co-founder of Maplewood, Perry enjoys counseling students for a life-enriching higher education in the US.
